Today was a typical British weather experience - rain mixed with sunlight, and cool temperatures, BUT good news, it was warm inside.
We achieved another JAGSL pandemic safe event with social distancing and a nice opportunity get together with some members we have not seen in over a year! It was fantastic to see everyone! Our agenda was to meet at the Museum of Transportation at 9:30, browse around and visit their Automotive displays in two building and of course, the Trains. The touring mini train that takes you around the grounds was running even with the questionable weather. The Museum has transformed itself over the years to become a true destination for those interested in Transportation. We saw many families in attendance.
At 11:30 we departed for Babler Park, taking a meandering 30-minute drive through some back roads, that many who live in the area didn’t even know existed…At Babler Park, the scenic route took us to the back side of the park, where we ended up at the Alta Shelter. It is a very nice shelter with facilities and the ability to have up to 4 campfires in the central fireplace. Might be a destination for a future rallye as well. All pulled out their picnic lunches and enjoyed the company and the woods. It was a unique experience, but the weather did not cooperate well enough for us to spend as much time there as we all would have preferred. It would have been much more comfortable if warmer by 10 degrees and a less breezy.
It was great to see all that attended! We look forward to the next event!!
